Story of data – Apr 15, 2021

As we grapple with the severe wave of COVID-19, the world is turning to Artificial Intelligence increasingly for screenings, regulating rule violators at events, and basically resorting to AI for the greater good of mankind. Microsoft's acquisition of cloud computing company Nuance for a whopping USD 19.7 million goes a long way in showing that AI in medical care is here to stay.

IIT Madras' has just announced AI Fellowships which is a welcome decision by students wanting to make it big in the field. With a salary of INR 15-18 lakhs per annum for three years and a research grant of up to INR 30 lakhs the future is bright.

As we scroll through the IA blog, we'd like to take a moment and talk about the piece on Deepfakes which explores how AI can be used for creativity as well as maliciousness as was demonstrated by a deep fake of former US President Barack Obama in which he was seen calling Donald Trump names.

Woman's Day Series

As part of the Woman's Day series Team IA got into tête-à-têtes with women who are making waves in the field Artificial Intelligence with their grit and determination. First on the series was Sakshi Kapahi, Director at OMAM Consultants who spilled the secrets on shunning all stereotypes and leading the way towards a gender-neutral work environment.

Next, we got into a conversation with Hanisha Vaswani, founder of Majority, an early stage impact investor in deep tech companies nurturing fledgling teams to success. She led sourcing for the United Nations World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator in Munich, Germany, a part of the UN World Food Programme, which won the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020.

We also caught up with Jennifer Jordan, Managing Director at Techstars for Barclays’ New York Accelerator and Female Founders First program. Jennifer, who is currently focused on an investment thesis related to the tools and data required to bring Trust & Transparency to AI, spoke to us about percentage of working women in AI, about driving change, and about bridging corporate and entrepreneurial disciplines.

Other Stuff

After this riveting series of interviews we were back to pondering how AI is powering Google Search. Read about the Hum-to-Search feature. We're fans! But what's more prompt of Google is the introduction of Live busyness updates on Google Maps which can tell about how crowded or busy the place is in the current moment in view of the social distancing measured being followed. Very important in the pandemic era!

We also addressed a grim reality of our industry - its carbon footprints which are so big that need to be addressed on a war footing. And on a different note, we also spoke about how AI is ready to replace financial advisers. The extent of it, you may ask? Read on to know all there is!

We began this month by debating if Artificial Intelligence in cyber security: Boon or bane? And if you have some interesting thoughts or tidbits to share do write in at contactus@infiniteanalytics.com. We are all ears!

As usual we close this edition of our newsletter with a spot of humour.

As always, we look forward to your messages. Do write to us to at contactus@infiniteanalytics.com to know how we can help your business.

Video editing and film-making

If you have ever been in the business of video editing, especially when a famous celebrity was involved, and no matter how much you try to salvage the video, you cannot; deepfakes will help with that clip and your video will be made uninterrupted. Earlier, movie directors would spend millions on creating the perfect location for their movies. This is now achievable with a far lesser sum using deepfake and AI. Deepfakes can be real game-changers in film-making. Imagine new movies starring Charlie Chaplin opening to full houses. This, ofcourse, after all the copyright issues are taken into consideration..
